TRANSPORTATION CONTRACT BETWEEN ASSAM GAS COMPANY
LTD. AND NUMALIGARH REFINARY LTD. FINALISED (Press
Note)
Signing of MOU between Assam Gas Company
Ltd. and Numaligarh Refinery Limited for transportation
of 1.00 MMSCMD of OILs gas from Duliajan
to Numaligarh
An MOU has been signed on 15.9.2004 between Numaligarh
Refinery Limited (a joint venture company of BPCL
and OIL) and Assam Gas Company Ltd, a Govt. Of
Assam undertaking, a pioneer in gas processing,
transportation and distribution business, for
transportation of 1 MMSCMD of gas from Duliajan
to Numaligarh. Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. NRL has
already signed the draft agreement with OIL for
supply of 1 MMSCMD of gas with effect from March
2006. Now with the signing of the MOU, Numaligarh
Refinery Ltd. can prepare itself for utilizing
natural gas in place of Naphtha from March 2006
onwards. AGCL, with the reputation of completing
all the projects on time is confident enough to
complete the 200 K.M. Pipeline Project from Duliajan
to Numaligarh within the target date of 31st March
2006. AGCL will receive the gas from OIL at 10
Kg/Cm2 and transport the same through its pipeline
and deliver the gas to NRL at a pressure of 32
Kg/Cm2 . The pipeline project has been estimated
at a cost of around Rs.400.00 Crores.
As on date, AGCL is capable of transporting and
distributing approximately 6MMSCMD of gas with
the help of more than 1000 Km of existing pipeline
network and necessary gas booster station. The
addition of NRL to its list of valued consumers
will increase the pipeline network by another
200 Km and transportation capacity by 1 MMSCM
per day. This pipeline infrastructure will create
opportunities not only for interconnecting North
East India with other parts of the country but
also will have the provision for connecting pipeline
to Bangladesh and Myanmar in due course of time.
The MOU on behalf of Assam Gas Company Ltd. and
Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. was signed by Sri P.K.
Baruah, Managing Director, Assam Gas Company Ltd.
and by Sri B.K. Das, Managing Director, Numaligarh
Refinery Ltd., respectively.
JORHAT-GOLAGHAT GAS SUPPLY PROJECT
The project was inaugurated on 16/2/2004 at Jorhat
court field, Jorhat and at Jonaki Nagar, Golaghat
by Sri Tarun Gogoi, Hon'ble Chief Minister of
Assam. Laying work for the 120 km long 300 mm
MS pipeline from Lakwa to Golaghat was completed
in a record time of five months and the line was
charged with gas on 27th June 2005. Several tea
estates in the Lakwa-Golaghat belt has started
drawing natural gas as fuel for their dryers and
many more are expected to be connected to the
gas supply system before the commencement of the
next production season. Field survey work for
supply of piped natural gas to the towns of Jorhat
and Golaghat is in progress.
CHIEF MINISTER'S RELIEF FUND
Sri B. Borpatragohain, Managing Director, Assam
Gas Company Ltd., Duliajan handed over a cheque
of Rs. 20 (Twenty) lakhs to Sri Tarun Gogoi, Hon'ble
Chief Minister of Assam, as contribution to the
Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
PAYMENT OF DIVIDEND
An amount of Rs. 1,26,85,860.00 ( Rupees one
crore twenty six lakhs eighty five thousand eight
hundred sixty ) only was paid to Govt of Assam
as dividend for the year 2003-2004.
TRAINING ABROAD
Four engineers of the company were sent to Asian
Institute of Management (AIM), Manila, Phillipines
for a three week course on Project Development
for Managers during November - December 2004.
The company seeks to upgrade the knowledge base
of its employees so that the comapny can benefit
from the same.
NATIONAL SAFETY DAY
34th National Safety Day was celebrated on 4th
March, 2005 at Assam Gas Company Ltd. On the occasion
a Safety Seminar was organized at AGCSRC followed
by demonstration of fire fighting equipments in
the AGCSRC Campus. As part of the Safety Day celebration,
Safety Drawing, Safety Slogan, and Safety Poem
competition was organized among the children,
employees and their Spouses.
